![]() It's the sort of game that's made for whatever time you want out of it, and toddling around tweaking the town with decorations or catching things to give to the museum is pretty relaxing. Castaway Paradise is very low-key and casual, and frankly, I like it that way. You'll fish, you'll catch bugs, you'll farm, you'll get yelled at by an angry ape. For the most part, it's pretty apt, though while the seasons and events on Castaway Island do change over time, it's not quite as dynamic as Animal Crossing where its population is concerned. Steam users don't need to buy anything extra, having already paid for the game, and have permanent unlimited water and stamina, too!Ĭastaway Paradise's influences are pretty clear, enough so that "It's like Animal Crossing!" is actually mentioned in the official site's subtitle and Google description. Unlike gems, which are the primary form of currency for buying new items, pearls are given out more sparingly, though you can choose to pay for some via optional in-app purchases. While the game runs on its own when you're not playing it so you can leave and come back later if you're waiting for something to build or grow, you can spend pearls to instantly complete any task. Whether you're playing on a computer or a mobile device, most things in Castaway Paradise still take time. Level up, and you'll get a smattering of useful items, and unlock more content as you go. Most folk will have tasks for you to accomplish and will reward you accordingly, and completing objectives as well as generally puttering about will gain you experience points. Some items can only be used so many times before you need to wait for their stamina to refill, or on a mobile device, watch a short ad to refill it immediately. You can harvest fruit from trees, for instance, and turn around and sell it, or you can plant and water it to grow more over time. Though you don't have anything but the weeds on your back in the beginning, the generous islanders will quickly loan you the tools you need to get started. Just click (or tap!) people or objects to interact with them, or to move around the island. You cannot recover planted fruit seeds after watering.Playing Castaway Paradise is pretty simple. If you accidentally plant a flower, you can recover the seed even after watering if you dig it up before it sprouts (before you click the checkmark).Garbage will wash up on the beaches once a day, but you might have to wait multiple days to gather the number you need.** Store trash - they give hardly any gems and are required for some quests.Quests that ask you to catch a specific item can sometimes be completed if you already have it in your inventory/storage, but not always.Store some cheaper bugs & fish for quota quests (ex.Store one of each bug, fish & shell until you've built Harold's Museum. For example, when fishing, move & drop the hook right on top of the fish instead of waiting for it to swim towards the bobber. Between rewards and pre-existing trees, you can acquire the following fruits for free: Apple, Orange, Banana, Juniper, Acai Berry, Beechnut, Peach & Cherry.Chili Peppers are the most profitable crop relative to time. And yes, there is a quest for upgrading your tent too. Houses are cosmetic, so if you wait for a quest you'll get EXP, gems & puzzle pieces. Don't do anything for free - esp rebuilding houses. You don't need fish food unless you're trying to catch a specific fish. For example, fence quests using the fences around Town Hall. You can sometimes complete quests using pre-existing items. ![]() Keep this in mind when investing in tool upgrades. Refill timers & capacity are redundant after lvl 15.Don't forget store prices drop 20% with VIP status at lvl 15.You can harvest crops at any point (good to fill harvest-only quests), but the more fully-evolved a crop is the more EXP & gems it will yield. ![]() Both crops are cheap and have short timers.
